     Another aspect of our practice is legal advice concerning all aspects of the laws of charitable giving and the specific laws which apply to charitable organizations.  Many people have some charitable gifts contained in their estate plan.  For some, their interest in charity extends to the formation of a private family foundation. 

     There are specific rules that goven what a charitable organization can and cannot do, both at the state and federal level.  We provide guidance and advice to exempt organizations to help them navigate these occasionally complicated waters.  We are often called upon to advise clients on the proper procedures which must be followed in order for a private family foundation to engage in a transaction with a related person.
